Overview

There is no single “most effective” psychotherapeutic approach. The most effective therapy is the one that matches your emotional style, needs, and life context.

Why there’s no universal “best” therapy

In psychotherapy, effectiveness isn’t determined by competing methods but by how well an approach fits an individual. Research and clinical practice consistently show that people differ in how they process emotions, handle relationships and make meaning of their experiences. Some clients resonate with structure and cognitive clarity. Others grow through emotional insight, body awareness or relational depth. Because of this diversity, therapy must remain flexible — not rigid.

What is considered evidence-based in Ukraine

In Ukraine, several psychotherapeutic modalities are officially recognized as evidence-based at the legislative level (Ministry of Health, Order No. 2118). Each has strong research grounding and can be highly effective when used appropriately. If you’re curious how these approaches compare side by side, you can explore my related article with a table of the main evidence-based methods — a great starting point for understanding how they differ and what may be suitable for you.

How I work: An integrative perspective

As a psychotherapist-in-training in Transactional Analysis (ITAIP) and Integrative Psychotherapy (Richard Erskine), with foundational training in Gestalt therapy, I work through an integrative lens. This means viewing each person as a multi-layered being — cognitive, emotional, relational and embodied — and selecting therapeutic tools that support:

  • clarity and self-understanding
  • emotional regulation
  • deeper connection with oneself and others
  • long-term stability and personal growth

What really matters when choosing a method

Choosing a psychotherapeutic approach isn’t about trendiness or labels. It’s about fit — with your pace, emotional world and personal goals. During our initial meetings, we can explore:

  • what you need most right now
  • how you naturally process experiences
  • which method or combination of methods suits you best

The right therapy is the one that meets you where you are and helps you move where you want to be.
